We rocked up to Hackney Marshes with a much different squad than the previous match in Cardiff as we suffered a bout of withdrawals in the 48 hours leading up to the game with another 2 not being able to get to the ground on the day we were left with just 13 players for our match against East End Phoenix (EEP).

We ended up losing the match 5-1 but what a great day and team performance and we are proud of every player who pulled our shirt on for this match. We nearly took the lead early on when the EEP keeper made a great save from Jamie’s free kick and then they made another great save following a great TRUK move which saw Mia play an excellent through ball to Kat whose effort was well saved. EEP were the ones to take the lead when a player went on an excellent run and it was like watching Maradona as they skipped round our defence to put the Phoenix one up…it was soon to be two when a player finished well into the bottom corner. We did not give up tho and got a penalty on the stroke of half time which Jamie buried to give us some hope. 1-2 at Half time.

We said the next goal would be crucial and we nearly got it early in the 2nd half as the tireless Maysa turned the defender in the box but saw her shot go just wide.,…Phoenix went up the other end and made it 3-1. Phoenix added a further two goals to put some gloss on their well deserved victory but we battled until the end and made them work hard for the 3 points.

Has to be said the referee had an excellent game which was pleasing to see and we thank him for his time and hope to see him officiating at one of our games again soon.

Phoenix were excellent hosts and we headed down to a lovely pub on the river for a few Camden Hells and some fabulous pizza provided by our fantastic hosts. We thank Phoenix for the game and look forward to playing them again soon.
