TRUK came away with the 3 points following a must win game V Coats & Goalposts in what was a tense affair on a barmy evening in East London!
We started well in what was a tight opening 5 minutes as both teams knew what was at stake but TRUK slightly edged the opening encounters and had a good chance that Maysa saw saved by the C&G keeper and another good move from TRUK saw Copsey hit the post. A good move from TRUK saw the deadlock broken on 6 minutes when O’Driscol rolled the ball into Clark who saw the run of Copsey and back heeled the ball into Copsey’s path who finished well. Clark and Copsey then linked up again with Copsey finishing well and we took what was a deserved and comfortable 2-0 lead. Both teams had good chances with both keepers making good saves but TRUK looked like they were going to go into the break 2-0 up. With rolling subs in action Clark replaced O’Driscol with a couple of minutes to go and her first involvement saw her give the ball away and allow C&G to pull a goal back. Shortly after this it was 2-2 as C&G had their tails up and took advantage of a shocked TRUK! H-T 2-2
A bizarre half time then saw a delay to the start of the 2nd half as C&G tried to field a player who had played for TRUK in the first half but stormed off at half time…all very weird…..We rightly objected to this and in the end the player didn’t play…to get revenge they decided to move the halfway line camera…no more to say really except wow….
The 2nd half saw very little chances but when the target was hit both keepers made decent saves…with time running out and it looking like we were going to share a point some great work from Maysa saw us win the ball back…she passed to Copsey who smashed the ball home into the corner of the net and gave TRUK the 3 points!
