As Ex Girlfriends go we really like this lot! Ex Girlfriend FC are a super friendly, super inclusive team with a great name, great kits and they have a great sponsor! They also play great football and are usually the last to leave the pub!

However back to the match….we came into this game a point behind Ex Girlfriend who were sitting top and although we had a game in hand we needed to make sure we took put in a good performance as Ex GF had beaten us 4-2 in a recent friendly. With a 6.30 kick off we wondered if we would actually have a full team to start the match as players struggled to get to East London but thankfully we made kick off although there was no time to warm up for most of our team.

The first half was pretty much dominated by Ex GF as they pinged the ball about and we were grateful to Fluff who was making their debut in goal as they pulled of some great saves to keep us in the game. We took the lead against the run of play when Lucy Copsey finished well and we were pleased to hear the half time whistle as we went into the break fortunate to be 1-0 up.

We all agreed during the half time chat that we were not good enough and we needed to raise our game but some serious levels and this we did as the 2nd half performance was completely different to the first half as we blew Ex GF away with some “Sexy Football” as the people watching the game described it! Heather made it 2-0 closing down a clearance and to her delight seeing the ball trickle in. Ex GF did however nearly pull one straight back from the kick off as a long range shot flew over Fluffs head…they let it go thinking it was going over as they stood on the line forgetting that at that end the pitch had been extended and the ball bounced back off the post! Copsey herself then hit the EX GF post before Clark finished well to make it 3-0. Ex GF were still creating chances and Fluff made a great save from and EX GF counter attack. Clark made it 4-0 shortly after before an excellent team goal saw Mandy Walker get a debut goal to make it 5 following a brilliant TRUK move. Copsey then finished well to make it 6 and we then played some excellent football creating numerous chances but we denied from good saves from Ralph in the EX GF goal or the post which Mandy hit for the 2nd time during the match. Heather then finsihed well to make it 7 and straight from the Kick off Lucy Copsey nicked the ball and put it into the bottom corner for number 8.
