Playing 2 matches in one night was always going to be a tough task especially when we were facing the teams 2nd and 3rd who were battling for the runners up spot. With a perfect record of 10 wins from 10 we not only wanted to remain unbeaten our task was to try and win both matches.
First up was Victoria Park Vixens which was always going to be a tough task and with seconds left of the 1st half we were deservedly 2-1 behind and we were relieved when Lucy Copsey scored with the last kick of the half to go in at the break level. We put on a much better performance in the 2nd half and 4 unanswered goals saw us come away with a 6-2 victory and part one was complete.
We finished our season against Ex Girlfriend who were confirmed as runners up following our victory over VPV but they were definitely up for the game and were determined to dent out invincible tag that we were hoping for. We started well and went 2-0 and was looking comfortable only for EX GF to pull one back before half time. With tired legs we went into the 2nd half determined to hold onto our lead and it was looking like we were going to do this as the game entered the final minute…when EX GF thought they had scored a dramatic equaliser only for the referee to rule the “goal” out…did it go in? Possibly….probably but hey they say decisions even themselves out over the season and we have been on the wrong end of a few so maybe this was the footballing gods doing their thing….we went up the other end and scored to make it 3-1 and therefore ended the season with a perfect 12 wins from 12.
Goals
Lucy Copsey won the golden boot with 29 goals with Lucy Clark coming 2nd with 17. Fluff bagged 16 and Maysa got into double figures with 10. Lucy Clark had 30 assists throughout the season with Lucy Copsey coming in 2nd with 11.
